owner and potter for the Maritime-based Morning Sun Pottery. Krysta has been working clay along the eastern shores of Canada since her early childhood play. She began to hand-sculpt clay in her mid-twenties and had her hands on the potters wheel for the first time shortly after. For the last ten years Krysta has poured her energy and focus into developing her own glazes and forms after completing college ceramics courses at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton. Krysta’s pottery studio is in her home nestled into the gentle hills enveloping the village of Harvey Station, also in New Brunswick.
Obsessed with the personality of the perfect mug and the daily ritual of tea and coffee, Krysta has created several mug forms that hold comfortably in the hand. After spending years of her life in large cities in both Canada and the southwestern United States, Krysta is passionate to create “memories in a mug”, meaning that each mug carries in it the memory of summertimes close to the Sea. Whether you are returning to the city or nestling close to the woodstove in your country home, with a hand-crafted mug from Morning Sun Pottery you will connect with the earth and the sea, the water and the wonder with every cup you drink!
Most recently Krysta designed and produced the Signature Plate for the newly renovated Algonquin Resort in beautiful Saint Andrews-by-the-Sea, a small seaside oasis not far from where she lives. Her plates are featured at each place-setting in the Resort’s dining room and a limited selection of her pottery can also be found in the Resort’s gift shop.
